Howdy, folks! Today I want to talk to you about the hot word “Self-Care”. When I first heard about self-care, I was like, “Really? One more thing to put on my to-do list?” I was busy. I was stressed. I had a lot of stuff!
Here’s something I have learned in my years. Whether you call it self-care, me time or something else… it’s important!
Let me tell you a little bit of my story. I am a mom of two, born seventeen and a half months apart. My husband travelled a lot. At times I felt like I was a single mom. I was buried in diapers and dishes.
I was in a daze!
I wasn’t taking care of anyone or anything in my life. I put myself on the back burner and I forgot I was back there. That led to a lot of health issues in my life. I want to help you with some tips and tricks, to avoid health plummets that happen when you don’t take care of yourself.
First off, just a reminder… Self-care is not just for you, but for your kids as well. My kids saw me struggle with a lot of depression. Yeah… I was depressed… but that wasn’t the problem.
The problem was the self-care that I didn’t do.
But what is self-care? When I think of self-care, I think of the song “The Little Tea Pot.” Do you know it?
It goes: “Fill me up – pour me out.” That is exactly what self-care is about. It’s about filling you up, so that you can pour out to others. We pour out to everyone in our lives – that’s what we do as moms!
We need to find the things that fill us up again. Some things are more of an emotional filling. Some things are more physical, that will affect your emotions. I want talk about ONE thing we can do that will help in so many ways! And you’re going to do it with your kids!
You need to get outside. Get outside with your kids! It’s called earthing or grounding. And it works wonders. There are electrons that come off the earth and interact with your body that actually bring balance and helps your body with all the processes it needs to do.
Take a look at this video. I talk more about the different benefits that come from being outside and also HOW you can get outside with your kids.
I want you to enjoy the sunshine, enjoy the fresh air and get grounded. It’s life changing!
